A national consultative meeting “Sustainability of EDI in Serbia” was held live and online on Thursday, February 25, at the Izvor Hotel in Arandjelovac.

Director of the Institute of Social Sciences and Member of ESS ERIC General Assembly, Dr. Goran Basic, and Dr. Marina Sokovic, Assistant Minister of Science gave the welcoming speech at the conference ceremonial opening. The first session was moderated by Aleksandar Tomašević, Faculty of Philosophy, University of Novi Sad, in which Dr. Dragan Stanojevic presented the history of European Social Survey in Serbia through a short video and pointed out new topics within the tenth wave. He also presented the pilot research conducted in our country. Dr. Aleksandar Jovic, Assistant Minister for International Cooperation and European Integration, emphasized the importance of EDI research for Serbia, too, as part of the Strategy of Scientific and Technological Development up to 2025th, primarily the integration of social sciences and increasing their competitiveness, which is the basis for creating public policies. The further sustainability of EDI in Serbia was discussed in the third session by Dr. Bojan Todosijević, the Institute of Social Sciences and prof. Dr. Viktor Nedovic (former Assistant Minister for International Cooperation). Zoran Stanojević ended the last session with his amusing speech that showed the ways in which science can become more interesting for the media.

The live meeting was held in compliance with all measures related to the COVID-19 pandemic in Serbia.
