The Center Science and Innovation for Development (SCiDEV) in collaboration with the University of Tirana organized throughout the period of February – April 2021 three digital events, called Digital Roadshow, with the aim of introducing the European Social Survey and the Western Balkans European Social Survey Network to the wider higher education and research ecosystem in the country.
The first digital Roadshow, organized in February 2021, saw as audience students at the University of Tirana, studying at both bachelor and master level. Participants were introduced to the topics covered by the survey, some of the details on how it is organized and administered, and the wealth of data that it makes available. The students were also briefly trained on how to access and download ESS datasets.
In April, was held the second digital Roadshow, which saw as participants academic staff from Albanian and Kosovo universities. Part of the panel discussion was also a representative of INSTAT, involved in the implementation of ESS Round 9, who shared her experience on the fieldwork and lessons learnt. Furthermore, other panelists, talked about the features of ESS, benefits from participation, and the support structures around it. During this event was also launched the Call for Participation to a training on the use of ESS data for teaching and research, co-organized by SCiDEV and UT.
The third digital Roadshow, organized also in April, saw a larger participation of representatives from Universities outside of Tirana, like the University of Vlora, Durres, Korca. During this event, and emphasis was put on how the ESS is organized on a national level, the parties involved, and the role of higher education institutions in such process.
